ANFOMIX

Ammonium Nitrate when mixed with 5.5% by weight of Combustible Organic Materials, such as Fuel Oil, acquire Explosives Properties. To get an Oxygen Balance Explosives Mixture 'ANFO', Ammonium Nitrate should be Homogeneously mixed with Fuel oil. Conventional Hand Mixing is time Consuming and does not give Homogeneous Mixture.

For Obtaining a Homogeneous Mixture of 'ANFO', the hand operated Mixer manufactured by us is an ideal equipment. 

It is made out of Light wt. but sturdy steel tubular frame and has two H. D. P. E. Containers each of 11 kgs. capacity. These containers can be detached from the mixer and used for Carrying 'ANFO' for charging Extra Container can also be had, so that process of mixing and charging of holes can be done simultaneously. 

Practical Tests carried out show that a through and Homogeneous Mixture is obtained by slowly revolving the containers 50 times, which take about 2 minutes. 

CAPACITY :- Each Can should be filled with 11 kg. Ammonium Nitrate and 3.4 kg. Fuel Oil, a total 23.5 kg. of ANFO is obtained in one operation. 

Note : HDPE container of "Anfomix" can be directly mounted on "Poranol" ANFO Loader ( Also manufactured by us) and thus mixing and charging can be done fast without ANFO coming in contact with the atmosphere.

Pneumatic Mixanol
 

Hand mixing of ANFO is time consuming and does not give homogeneous mixture. MIXONOL have been designed and developed to prepare Safely homogeneous ANFO mixture from pilled / Crystal / powder / granular Ammonium Nitrate. This unit has been fabricated by us for the first time in India and is approved by Chief controller of Explosives, Nagpur. Three models of the units namely electrically powered, pneumatically powered and manually operated are available.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION :

MIXONOL has a conical drum made of nonmagnetic quality stainless steel. A set of 4 baffles is provided in side the drum to ensure proper mixing of ANFO when the drum is rotated. The drum is mounted on sturdy tabular steel frame having base plate with four holes each for foundation bolts. The rotating mechanism consists of double heavy duty ball bearing enclosed in dust proof & water proof bearing housing, gear and motor or chain and sprocket arrangement with handle or pneumatic motor is provided. A locking arrangement for locking the drum at various position is also provided for manually operated Mixer.

INSTALLATION :

The unit is secured to the floor by means of steel foundation bolts. A small platform is made on one side of the unit to enable the operator to stand and empty the AN bags into the drum. The flooring around MIXONOL should be smooth and clean.

Manual Mixonol

PROCESS : To obtain Homogeneous ANFO Mixture, first the drum is locked in vertical position. Then desired quantity of ammonium nitrate is filled in the drum and requisite quantity of fuel oil is poured. The lid is then closed and drum is rotated for 5 minutes in case of manually operated unit. The drum is then positioned with the lid downward. The lid is opened and ANFO decanted in HDPE containers / bags and taken to the site for loading.
